What this website does with your data

Short and concrete: what happens when you visit this website or fill in a form, and what you choose yourself. How we handle pupils’ tests during the training is covered on the Data protection page — that is a different subject.

In short

Very little, and most of it stays on your own device

This website asks for your consent for one thing only: the spam check in the forms. Everything else works without you having to choose anything.

  • No tracking and no advertising. No analytics tools, no advertising or tracking codes, no social-media pixels.
  • Fonts are served from our own website. When you view the pages, your browser makes no connection to third parties.
  • Google reCAPTCHA only after your consent, and only on pages with a form.
  • What you enter in a form reaches us — through our website and a Google environment. Below you can read exactly which data.

Who is responsible

The party responsible for the data this website processes is: Teacherhelp, BE0683.838.518, info@teacherhelp.be.

When you visit the website

  • Technical data. Our web host records technical data, such as your IP address, the time and the page requested, to keep the website secure and available. These log files are kept for 30 days. We do not use them to track you.
  • Your language choice. On your first visit we look at your browser’s language and, if needed, send you to the matching language version. We remember that choice in your browser (item th_taal in local storage). It is not a cookie and we do not receive it.
  • Your consent choice. What you choose on the cookie notice is remembered in your browser (item th_toestemming) for up to 12 months. After that we ask again.
  • Cookies. On the public pages we set no cookies ourselves. Only Teacherhelp staff receive a session cookie when they log in to the admin pages; visitors do not.
  • The share button. If you choose to share a page, you leave our website (for a social network or your email program). From then on that service’s privacy policy applies.

When you submit a form

There are three forms: the contact form, a request for the calendar and sharing an experience.

  • Contact: your name, school, email address, the chosen format and your message.
  • Calendar request: your name, position, school, the school’s address, postcode and town, the number of participants, your email address, your phone number, a comment and whether the school may be listed.
  • Sharing an experience: your name and school (optional), your email address, your answers and whether and how we may publish them.

What for. To answer and handle your question or request and, for an experience, to publish it with your consent.

Where it goes. Every submitted form goes through our website to a Google environment (Google Apps Script and Google Sheets), where we follow it up, and is delivered to us by email. A calendar request and a shared experience are also stored in our website’s database. This happens within our own Google Workspace environment: a paid subscription on our own domain, for which we are the administrator and to which Google’s standard Data Processing Amendment applies. Google processes the data on our behalf and may also do so outside the European Economic Area.

How long. No longer than needed to handle your request. Specifically:

  • Contact: 12 months.
  • Calendar request: 12 months.
  • Shared experience: 12 months.

If your inquiry leads to a service agreement with a school, that agreement and any resulting invoices are retained separately, for the period required by Belgian accounting law — this is separate from the data from your initial website inquiry.

Against misuse. When you submit, we store a code (a hash) of your IP address so that we can limit the number of messages per hour. That way we do not need to store the IP address itself. The forms also use a hidden field and a timestamp to recognise automatically filled-in messages.

Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in answering questions and preventing misuse, and carrying out your request.

Google reCAPTCHA — only with your consent

The forms use Google reCAPTCHA to check that a human is filling them in. As long as you do not give consent, we do not load reCAPTCHA and your browser makes no connection to Google; instead you see an explanation next to the form.

If you give consent, your browser connects to Google. Google then receives, among other things, your IP address and information about your browser and device, and may set or read cookies. We only receive the result of the check.

Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time via the button below or via ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of every page; the rest of the website keeps working as normal. Without consent you cannot submit the forms, but you can always email us at info@teacherhelp.be.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, for correction, erasure or restriction of it, and for it to be transferred. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Email info@teacherhelp.be for this. If we cannot resolve it together, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
